About the Ratuba World Team

Grant Cerulome

Grant is the programmer, designer, webmaster, and producer for Ratuba Games.

Grant has been making art and animation since he was in middle school. Then, about sophomore year of high school, he obtained Macromedia Flash, and began making some really funny movies and animations. He continued to make movies all throughout high school, and began to learn some simple action scripting (the programming language that Flash is based off of.)

Then, his first semester of Freshman year at Umass, he made a game called "Riot Zoomass," which caught alot of media attention. He was interviewed by CBS news, Fox25 news, WB news, the Associated Press, National PublicRadio, and a few other local newspapers and stations. He caused quite an uproar with the "depicted violence against university police." For a while he was pretty mad that everyone was getting so pissed off...until he realize the power that flash could wield! "Riot Zoomass" got over 200,000 hits in less than a week, and even shutdown his school's servers because of bandwidth overload! yikes! He then asked himself the question...could he ever possibly gain this much internet attention again? Grant likes attention, but the negative aura that surrounded his game "made him look like a bad guy." So, he spent alot of time thinking of how to get website hits, and keep it fun for all audiences.

And, the Brink Of Alienation series was born.

So, right now he is continuing to make games, and save money to start bigger and better games. One of his main goals for 2006 is to sponsor other artist's work, promote ratubaworld.com, and create a team of programmers who enjoy creating flash minigames. Grant wants to thank Newgrounds.com for the awesome community they have created amongst flash authors and artists. He would also like to recognize Armorgames.com for sponsoring his first games, and launching him into the dotcom world.

Grant studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, for a BFA in computer animation, and a minor is music performance for the classical voice. He is currently a Junior, and is expected to graduate in 2008. Recently Grant was awarded the Chancellor's Talent Award through the Univeristy of Massachetts Art Department, and a full tuition scholarship for 4 years. Chancellor's talent award winners are recognized for their contributions to the University's artistic community through committed and active participation in the Art Department.

Grant also has many interests including soccer, music, acapella, football, Red Sox, theater, movies, poker, partying and rioting, rope swinging, watching survivor man, and going to the beach!

Coop uses a program called "Finale"to notate his music. He then imports the midi file into a program called "Fruity Loops" which allows each song to have a techno feel to it. there are a wide variety of instruments to chose from, and it is a very complicated program to learn.

You can read more information about cooper here: www.coopercerulo.com and his website here: www.sillybeatz.com

Cooper also studied at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, majoring in Music Performance for Classical Voice. He is currently living in New York.

Ash Jackson

Artist

ash pic

Ash was born and raised in the town of Hopkinton, Massachusetts He started drawing as soon as he could hold a pencil.  He was home schooled, which enabled him to devote almost all his time to drawing.  In the beginning, he would often draw faces with 68 teeth, and couldn't remember if the mustache went above or below the nose, but as the years went by, he slowly gained some degree of competency and understanding of the artistic ways, and to this day, he continues his epic quest to master his craft.  What better place to start than in comic books?

Ash is one of the leading artists for Ratuba Games. His work can be viewed in Brink of Alienation I and II (cover design), and all art in BOA: Substance (episode 1). Ash also created many designs for Brink of Alienation merchandise.
